COVID Comic Strip, 7/12

"Joy in a Depression" series:
At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting economic crash, I became fascinated by old pictures of the Great Depression. We think of it as such a dreary time, but I realized I’d only seen black and white photography. Diving into the world of recolored photos, folks in the 30s were wearing bright patterns, finding color against a bleak backdrop. After the George Floyd protests began, I expanded the series to include icons of the 1960's Civil Rights movement.
